Wanted: Shade

Well, unfortunately I don't have any pictures but i wanted to post a note about our night. This weekend we put in our horse trailer to the baby pen so that they could have better shade than the little canopy that we set up for them and was getting ruined everyday by either them or the wind? So, while out there tonight, we decided to try and get the babies to come in the trailer since they haven't been in there since we brought them home!!!

The ONLY brave one to get in was Ziggy and he was SO good about it. Of course we had to use some food and a little encouraging pushes but then he was in. And it was hilarious because he was walking like he had stilts on because of the rubber in the trailer. HAHA but he is such a good boy and really is sweet. I can't wait for him to get older so we can do more than just say how cute he is :)

Camie and Bolt were both not on the get in the trailer team. We tried and tried and gave a lot of pushes but they said NO WAY!!!! Maybe they will get in once they see how much fun Ziggy is having in there?

finally got my cord back!!

My lovely boyfriend finally was able to bring back my camera cord so i am back in business!! Since the last time I wrote a lot of things have happened. We put up electrical tape around the babies pen because it was getting to a point where they needed to learn how to respect the fence. Everyone has been zapped at least once! Poor ziggy was a little too curious about it when we first put it up and ZAP right on the nose. So the babies have been spending most of their days outside in the pasture because its way cooler out there.

We put the goats outside too! Since the round pen was up for the babies, we decided to put the goats to work on some landscaping. We have had the pen around two sets of trees and they are looking great! And its good for the goats too because they can be outside, have more space to run around, and they can be alone!! we've never had anywhere else to put them before now because they are too attached to us and will break anything we put them in.

The geese are doing great! You won't even recognize Charlie when i post a picture of him! He is huge and they are both goofy! I bought a little kiddy pool for them to play in. They loved it but was only like 10 inches deep so i bought them a big 8ft by 2ft pool that they love even more! They are so funny when they swim! It normally scares the other one and they end up getting out of the pool, which is hilarious!

Charlie just 2 weeks ago

Charlie's first time in the pool. He loves to spread his wings!

Hank and Charlie. Isn't he big??

Hank only likes his chickens. He doesn't really like the big ones.. he is telling this chicken what is up!

Heads down, bottoms up!

We love our pool!!!!

In some sad news: We had to put Grizzly to sleep yesterday. He had a stroke and was just awful yesterday afternoon. Stefan and I went out to let the babies and the goats out and found him stuck in his house because he couldn't even get up. Then he came out and couldn't even stand up without leaning on something. Then he kinda started having seizures and was just really bad. We took him to the vets and he started to perk up... that made the decision just crushing for me. The vet said that there was a chance he could get a little better by putting him back on the antibiotics and steroids, but we would just be back in this situation.. 2 hours?, 2 days?, 2 weeks? from now.. and in the end we just didnt feel it was fair to him to have to suffer through another stroke or anything else that would have come about through the complications.... it was a really hard day for me yesterday and it is even now writing this.. did we make the right decision? i sure hope so and i can only hope he is in a better place now.  Grizzly was a good dog and I really miss him being outside. He was always happy to see us and was really goofy and sweet. ITs just crazy that on sat. he barked when someone pulled into the driveway and was chasing the chickens out of his food and then on sunday he didn't even have enough cordination to stand up on his own. RIP Grizz, I love you.

Hi everyone,

So for no updates lately.. i took some pictures and was going to post this weekend but then I was too busy.. and now that i'm back home i realized i left my camera cord to connect to the computer down in pittsburgh at my boyfriends house.. so it will be a few weeks until i can post pictures because sadly thats how long it will be until i see my boyfriend again.

In other news, we put the babies outside this weekend in our round pen since we remodeled the barn and took down the temporay gates that was the round pen. They seem to be enjoying spending their time outside and we have even left them outside over night!

Hank and Charlie are getting big. I think charlie doubles in size every other day so he is getting soo big!

We also got our hay in this weekend. I'm not sure on the final tally though but I know we have a good start to our winter supply.

Thats really all for now.. sorry no pictures. Have a nice day!

Va Va Voom

I also took a video yesterday because it had been a while since I uploaded one. Its pretty cute. I think you can hear Bolt nahing which he always does when he is running and then be sure to turn up your speakers for Camie's running farts! too funny!

Yay! Nice Weekend!

....Finally!

It was sunny for 3 days in a row. I think that might be a record for this summer! Too bad I was inside for most of it because I had to work.. oh well! We finally had the babies out today to run around. I also got some pictures of our other babies Hank and Charlie and the chickens.

The horse babies are doing great! We went to an auction this weekend and although there was only one baby that was as old as them, they looked fantastic, which made us feel pretty good. We must be doing something right! The only thing we need to do is take care of a couple things. They need a visit from the ferrier and they as in Camie and Bolt need a visit to the vet because they both have hernias that didn't heal on their own.

Today we also got them started on fly spray. They did amazingly well! No one freaked out! Yay! And as we were walking up, mom made the observation that Ziggy's head is now taller than me! Which isn't hard to do for a horse since I only stand 5'1 on a good day! But, I still have him by a little because he can't truly look me in the eye yet! Just wait for a few more days and then I bet he can!

Here was the fun from today!

update: grizzly and more

GRIZZ IS FOUND!!!!!!

We searched for him all day. Then when mom came home we started to call the police and shelters, etc. because we were having no luck. Then when I called the pound I got a lead about the humane society bringing in an older dog.

So, I called the humane society and left a message. Not 20 minutes later they called me back and we went to meet them. And there he was!!! I guess he was found about 8:30 wondering down the middle of 846 a pretty busy road by the police. thank goodness he wasn't hit by a car because people fly down that road! So he spent the day in the slammer and then the humane society went to get him when they could. Thats when we got the call and went and picked him up. The humane society guy said that he was glad he had a happy ending because they don't get to see a lot of them!

Mom also went to go get some geese today! With grizz getting older she wanted some gaurd geese. One is 6 weeks old (Hank) and one is a day old (Charlie). They are soo cute!

We also let the babies out in the barn today to run around a little bit. They had the running farts like always and it is quite comical!

Charlie!

Good Night! I hope you had as good of an ending to your day as I did.

boo mother nature

Hi guys..

Sorry for no updates. The weather has been horrendous! Its rained something like 30 of the last 40 days... it was kinda ok this weekend but it rained in the morning and then was so so in the evening.. but we were afraid to let them out because they get crazy and we didnt want any injuries!!

This past monday I had a lovely surprise for me when I came home.. not!! Poor Zig man must have had an upset stomach. I will spare you the gorey details and jsut tell you that it was disgusting haha! He was covered from the butt down. :( and how had to clean it up? this girl. He was such a good boy though! he let me put on his halter and then i lead him out of the pen and tied him up. that was the first time we was ever tied. And the whole time he just stood there. I was using hot water so it must have felt good. He even was lifting up his legs for me. It was gross but he was sweet and you could tell he didn't feel good so it wasn't that bad.

In other farm news our old man grizzly is lost. Some how he managed to slip his colar. It is worrisome because he hasn't been feeling well lately and we can't find him anywhere! And in the 13 years that we've had him he has never ever gotten out of his colar let alone run away.

I was thinking about when we first got him. He was a stray that was of course dropped off at our house and dad wouldn't let him come inside. So i set up a nice house for him and gave him food and water hehe! Well, we didn't tie him up because dad didnt want to keep him so everyday when I would come home from school, Grizz would meet me at the end of the driveway and pick me up from the school bus. He did this for a few weeks and then one day he didn't come get me. i was heart broken and called my mom sobbing because i thought he had finally run away. Well!! he was jsut next door visiting the neighbor and once he realized I was home he came back. He is a good dog and I hope we are able to find him.

I also wanted to say HI!! and thanks for everyone who has visited our site. I didn't think we would get any vistitors other than family, but we've had people from singapore, germany, russia, australia, and a few more cool places look at our blog at least once. So, I just wanted to say thanks for checking us out! It makes my day when I see someone new has looked at this.. even if you didn't mean to! :)
